Ancillary Task 2: Magazine Advert

Ancillary Task 2: Magazine Advert Final Piece IMAGE

This will be our final piece for our magazine advert.

Potential (first) Magazine Advert: AUDIENCE FEEDBACK

This is our first draft of a possible magazine advert. We asked our target audience what they thought about this. Mark said "It is unclear if that is actually an artist and what they are adverting for."

We therefore decided to expand on this draft by introducing more of a link to our video. We may also include a representation of the female within it also. This will help to make it the audience understanding of the avert clearer.

Ancillary Task 1: Digi Pak Final Piece IMAGE

For the cover of our music alum we decided to go for something simple. We wanted something darker that we felt would stand out amongst common block bright colours on shelves. The bright stars however stick to the conventional pop genre. We feel they add something to lighten the image and give it a sense of playfulness. We decided to use the image of him smoking the cigarette however because of our intention to create a hybrid indie pop video. It is common amongst indie genres to feature the lead singer smoking.

For example one of the most iconic indie albums of all time features the lead singer of the Arctic Monkeys, Alex Turner smoking on the front. We felt this connection would inspire our target audience. It also links to Roland Barthes theory of 'myths'. It also links to a societal ideology of women finding 'bad boys' attractive. This attractive edge is something that also appeals to our target audience of young adults. We know this is proven as, although Artic Monkeys primary audience is not teenage girls, they did have a large female following because of the image they presented. This is a famous picture linked to Alex Turner and the indie genre of music. We manipulated our album cover according with this to link it to the genre of music we wished to create. However the bright colours and subtle innocence that is not present in the Artic Monkeys is what presents our album as a hybrid genre front cover.

Potential (first) Draft of Digi Pak: AUDIENCE FEEDBACK

This is the first draft of our digi pak. We firstly asked our target audience to give us their opinion in order to expand and change our ideas. A female member of our audience said that 'black and white is not a convention of the pop genre and is unusual for a digipak.

We have decided to take note of this in order to continue to develop our product. However they did say that they thought the house style of the brick wall was 'cohesive' to understand and make the overall products look professional. Therefore I shall continue with another draft of our digi pak and take abroad the criticism in order to make the product better.
